Opt-Out Applications

Fall Application Period

August 1st to September 14th, 2026

There is no opt-out form available during the winter term.

Fall Academic Enrolment

Every student in an eligible program is charged the plan fee(s) each Fall semester and can opt out by the specified deadline.

If this deadline is missed, you will be eligible to opt out next fall by the specified deadline as a returning student.

If you leave the school for more than a year you are considered a new student for the purposes of this form. Permanent opt-outs will remain on your profile.

things-to-considerThings to Consider
  1. A parents' insurance plan ceases coverage until you turn either 18 or 21, or up to 25 if you are studying full-time at a recognized education institution.
  2. You can coordinate two benefit plans to maximize your coverage, potentially reaching up to 100% coverage! Find out more Coordination of Benefits.
  3. Saskatchewan Health Services, the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) or the Student Benefits Plan are not acceptable as comparable insurance coverage.
  4. If you opt out of the dental plan, you are still considered to have access to dental insurance, which makes you ineligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).
  5. Students with comparable coverage can choose to opt out of health, dental, or both.
  6. The comparable coverage accepted could be from parents, spouse, work, government, or band.
  7. Students must choose between annual or permanent opt-out.
  8. Annual opt-outs: apply for an academic year; from September 1st to August 31st. If students wish to opt out of the benefits for the next academic year, they must apply again in the fall term.
  9. Permanent opt-outs: Students do not need to apply to opt out again every academic year. Students will be charged the Health and Dental Plan fees and credited automatically.
  10. Approval of your opt-out will result in the plan fee being credited.
  11. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made if the deadline is missed. It is the student's responsibility to pay the plan's mandatory fees, should they miss the applicable opt-out deadline.
  12. Once you complete the opt-out form, you will receive an automated email confirmation. Please keep this email for your records as it is your only proof of submitting an opt-out request.
